Position: AI Engineer – Applied NLP & LLM Systems Location: Remote (India preferred) Engagement: Full-time contract (2 months, with high likelihood of extension) Hours: 4 hours/day aligned with IST, 4 hours/day aligned with U.S. EST Compensation: Competitive hourly or monthly rate Company Overview Synvergence is building AI-powered tools that augment—not replace—human experts . Our first product enables behavioral health clients to journal asynchronously and receive structured, therapist-guided reflections powered by AI. The clinician remains at the center—configuring tone, reviewing responses, and preserving therapeutic integrity. This is AI with boundaries, built for trust and clinical utility. About the Role We are hiring a full-time AI Engineer to help build the MVP of this platform. You’ll work directly with the founder to architect, implement, and iterate a therapist-configured reflection engine using large language models. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building with LLM APIs, understands human-in-the-loop principles, and is comfortable designing secure, testable features within a lean startup environment. This is a probationary 2-month contract , intended to validate product-market fit and initial implementation. Upon successful delivery of the MVP, the role is likely to be extended into a longer-term engagement. Responsibilities Develop AI-generated response systems aligned with clinician-configured tone and therapeutic modality Implement asynchronous journaling workflows using LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) with memory/context integration Build configurable prompt-response frameworks and safety filters Collaborate directly with the founder to iterate toward a clinically-usable MVP Contribute to backend infrastructure with a focus on security and mobile-first design Qualifications 2+ years of experience with LLMs, NLP pipelines, and prompt engineering Proficiency in Python and modern tooling (LangChain, vector databases, lightweight agents) Experience with memory/context tracking, embeddings, and conversational systems Understanding of responsible AI and user safety in high-sensitivity applications Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote, async-first environment Nice to Have Experience with behavioral health, coaching, or journaling products Familiarity with therapeutic models (CBT, ACT, DBT) Experience with Flutter, Firebase, or mobile application integration Exposure to emotion detection or intent classification systems Terms All candidates must provide three professional references : Two from the past five years One from your most recent engagement An NDA will be required prior to onboarding No other freelance, IT engagements, or moonlighting permitted during the contract term Show more Show less
