Position Overview

Assessment Item Writer/Reviewer

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and write assessment items (objective, subjective, and performance-based) aligned with curriculum, learning objectives, and publisher guidelines.
• Ensure all items are clear, accurate, unambiguous, and free of bias.
• Create hints, rationales, and scoring keys/rubrics to support the assessment process.
• Review and edit items for quality, consistency, and compliance with metadata requirements (difficulty level, cognitive skill, topic, etc.).
• Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), editors, and instructional designers to validate content accuracy.
• Revise or retire items based on performance data, psychometric analysis, or reviewer feedback.
• Stay updated with assessment frameworks (Blooms taxonomy, Depth of Knowledge, etc.) and educational standards (CBSE, NCERT, NGSS, Common Core, etc., as applicable).
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to organizational standards and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in [relevant subject area, e.g., Account/Finance, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics/Business].
• Prior experience in item writing, test development, or curriculum design preferred.
• Strong understanding of assessment design principles and educational standards.
• Excellent command of language and ability to write with clarity and precision.
• Strong research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in assessment frameworks (Bloom’s Taxonomy, Webb’s DOK, etc.).
• Ability to create items for varied difficulty levels and learner profiles.
• Familiarity with digital assessment platforms and metadata tagging.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Commitment to fairness, inclusivity, and learner-centered assessment.
