Job Description

A Student Support Officer is a professional who helps guide and assist students through various aspects of their academic journey. They are typically employed by educational institutions, such as universities, colleges, or training centers, to ensure that students receive the support and guidance they need to succeed. The role can vary depending on the institution, but it generally includes the following responsibilities: Key Responsibilities of a Student Support Officer: Conducting Interviews : They often meet with prospective students to assess their eligibility for programs, understand their academic backgrounds, motivations, and interests, and help match them with the right courses. Providing Academic and Emotional Support : They help students navigate academic challenges, provide guidance on course selection, and sometimes offer counseling or refer students to professional services when needed. Record Keeping : Student Support Officers maintain accurate records of student interviews, evaluations, progress, and feedback to ensure that all data is up-to-date and handled confidentially. Collaboration : They work closely with the admissions and academic teams to align the support offered with the institution's goals and programs. Program Knowledge : They stay updated with course offerings, admissions criteria, UKVI regulations (for international students), and any other relevant policies that could affect students. Guidance on Application and Enrolment : They help prospective students understand the application process, admission requirements, and provide information on scholarships, deadlines, and other opportunities. Key Skills and Qualifications: Strong Communication Skills : Ability to speak with students from diverse backgrounds and offer clear, supportive guidance. Attention to Detail : Carefully evaluating students' academic records, motivations, and other critical data. Interpersonal Skills : Building rapport and trust with students, making them feel comfortable and supported. Organizational Skills : Managing multiple tasks, including interviews, records, and administrative responsibilities, often in a fast-paced environment. Confidentiality : Respecting student privacy and adhering to ethical guidelines, particularly with sensitive personal and academic information. Role & responsibilities Essential 1. Graduate in any discipline (Preferably Psychology). 2. Excellent communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with prospective students from diverse backgrounds. Strong listening skills to understand candidates' needs and motivations. 3. Interpersonal skills: Demonstrated ability to build rapport and establish trust with interviewees. Empathy and sensitivity towards the concerns and questions of prospective students. 4. Attention to detail: Attention to detail to accurately evaluate candidate responses to the questions asked throughout the interview. 5. Ethical conduct: Maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and adhere to ethical guidelines and approved SOPS throughout the interview process. 6. Time management: Ability to conduct multiple interviews, update the notes simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. 7. Proficiency with MS Office tools Desirable 1. Flexibility: Willingness to work across shifts and additional man days, if necessary, to accommodate the schedules of prospective students and partners. Key performance indicators 1)% of high-quality interviews in the total number of interviews per day (90% minimum) 2) No violations of the Company's values, policies, and procedures Preferred candidate profile
