Production Manager Chennai 15 - 24 years INR 15.0 - 25.0 Lacs P.A. Work from Office Full Time

Job Description 1. Plant Operations & Strategic Oversight Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality control, and logistics. Participate in the development and execution of production-related policies and strategic plans. Prepare and manage the plant budget, including forecasting, cost control, and investment planning. Develop and present investment proposals for executive team approval. 2. Production Planning & Management Manage the full production cycle across all Value Streams, including prototypes, serial production, and spare parts. Monitor daily production output against planned targets to ensure timely delivery. Allocate and adjust manpower based on the production plan, customer demands, and company priorities. Ensure staffing levels meet operational needs with a focus on financial efficiency and quality. 3. Performance Monitoring & KPI Management Define, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to delivery, quality, and productivity. Implement corrective actions and improvement plans when KPIs are not met. Identify opportunities for cost reduction, quality improvement, and operational efficiency. 4. Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives Lead initiatives to eliminate waste, implement 5S, and drive continuous improvement in production. Develop manufacturing processes in collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimize quality, productivity, and cost structures. Monitor and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). 5. Team Leadership & Development Lead, train, and develop production staff with a focus on Lean manufacturing principles, cross-functional skill building, and workplace safety. Cultivate a culture of responsibility, accountability, and continuous performance improvement. Special powers/authorization Operational Control & Flexibility Stop the production process in case of product and/or process non-conformities to ensure quality and compliance. Propose and implement overtime and workforce reallocation between projects to address production needs and ensure continuity. Actively participate in internal committees and cross-functional working groups to support company-wide initiatives, share best practices, and align departmental goals with broader organizational objectives. Job Description 1. Quality Strategy & Leadership Plan, introduce, and implement the Quality (Q) strategy, targets, and plans in the plant. Directly manage and provide technical leadership to the plants quality engineers. Promote and embed the culture of Forschner Global Zero-Defect Policy within the organization. Define employee needs and ensure they are equipped to perform effectively. 2. Quality System & Compliance Maintain and update the Quality Management System (QMS). Ensure compliance with IATF 16949:2016, ISO 14001, and customer-specific requirements. Ensure implementation and adherence to technical standards (e.g., DIN/VDE) and customer requirements. Make sure process, product, and audit controls are effective and consistent. Verify that quality tools (e.g., Ishikawa, 5-Why) are being used appropriately. 3. Production & Process Quality Ensure product and process quality across all production functions. Drive improvement of quality capability and performance through KPI management. Implement and monitor process controls to prevent quality issues and customer complaints. Provide technical support during production transfers according to QM/PM requirements. Ensure Q-Gate results and Quality KPIs are reviewed, and improvement actions are followed up. 4. Problem Solving & Error Management Lead structured problem-solving activities (8D Champion / Leader). Being 8D Leader or being deputy of Quality Engineer for the cross-functional team. Be sure that all actions are addressed, and actions are effective. Makes sure that FMEA and other relevant documents are updated correctly. Oversee internal error analysis, corrective action, and tracking of lessons learned. Validate the effectiveness of actions from internal and external audits. Ensure that deviations do not recur by proposing and verifying corrective measures. 5. Continuous Improvement & Project Quality Implement and maintain the Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) in the plant. Responsible for implementation of PEP (Project Execution Plan) / APQP for enhanced advance quality planning in development projects. Participate in the development of standardized project documentation: FMEA Q-Plans Process flow charts Production approval (PA) SPC (Statistical Process Control) MSA (Measurement System Analysis) 6. Customer Quality Management Manage critical and high-priority customer quality concerns. Act as the escalation point for customer issues after Quality Engineers. Ensure timely and appropriate customer communication aligned with company culture and requirements. Ensure that EMPB (PPAP) submissions are delivered on time and without deviation. Safeguard customer interests within the organization. 7. Audit & Compliance Management Oversee internal and external audits and ensure all findings are addressed effectively. Monitor compliance with all required standards and customer-specific guidelines. Evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions from audit outcomes. 8. Training & Competence Development Identify training needs in quality tools and auditing (e.g., core tools, IATF). Organize and/or conduct trainings to enhance awareness and build key quality skills within the team. Support quality engineers with transferred projects or complex quality issues. 9. Reporting & Performance Monitoring Report on quality performance, including cost of quality, directly to Head of Quality BU. Ensure timely provision and evaluation of Key Process Indicators (KPIs). Prepare management reviews and follow up on performance outcomes and trends. 10. Other Responsibilities Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the senior leadership. Special powers/authorizations Authorize Production Stop : Has the authority to stop production in case of increased or detected non-conforming products to prevent shipment to customers. Must inform Quality and Production Management immediately. Non-Conforming Product Handling : Coordinates with production to organize inspection/rework teams, ensures non-conforming items are clearly marked (e.g., red Stop-card), and properly isolated. Audit Responsibilities : Acts as an internal auditor for process, product, Layered Process Audits (LPA), and requalification audits. Sorting & Q-Gate Oversight : Manages and supports all activities related to product sorting and Q-Gate inspections.
