Description:
Our mission is to provide Coupang sellers the utmost convenience of selling and offer Coupang customers the best available selection and the lowest possible price. You will be working in a fast-paced environment along with a team of smart and passionate global engineers to design and implement various systems to meet the needs of the Rocket Growth business. You will also have direct ownership of new features for improving the Marketplaces scalability, reliability, availability, extensibility and performance. We care about both delighting customers and building high-quality software and we are looking for seniors with proven track record of designing and building large scale distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications and distributed systems across the stack (frontend, backend, and infrastructure).
Own end-to-end development of features, from system design to deployment and monitoring.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement architectural roadmaps aligned with business goals.
Continuously innovate and enhance the platform to support Rocket Growth programs and evolving product needs.
Ensure high standards of performance, availability, and security across the platform.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers on best practices and system design.
Skills and Qualifications
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in system design, algorithms, and building large-scale distributed systems.
6+ years of professional experience with modern programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Scala, C#, or similar.
Proficiency in frontend technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js.
Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern DevOps practices.
Proven experience building and delivering complex, full-stack software systems to production.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and leadership teams to gather requirements, define features, and shape product strategy.
Demonstrated ability to influence and implement software engineering best practices within a team or organization.
Hands-on experience across a wide range of technologies from modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) to backend services and infrastructure.
Customer-obsessed mindset with a track record of working backwards from user needs to deliver innovative and user-friendly solutions.
