Staff Software Engineer Full Stack

As a Staff Engineer at Agoda, you will play a key role in the technology organization, collaborating with individual contributors and senior leadership. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading full-stack architecture and system design for features used by millions of customers across web and cross-platform environments - Owning complex end-to-end systems, including building, integrating, and maintaining both frontend and backend components, with a focus on the critical Backend for Frontend (BFF) layer - Mentoring and guiding high-performing teams, providing technical leadership, driving engineering excellence, and supporting the growth of your peers - Driving technical decisions by influencing architecture and best practices across multiple squads to ensure scalable, reliable, and high-quality solutions - Collaborating with Product and Design teams to deliver cohesive, user-centered features and experiments that directly impact business outcomes Qualifications required for this role include: - 8+ years of experience in software engineering, demonstrating strong technical leadership and end-to-end ownership - Expertise in Java, Kotlin, .NET, and JavaScript/TypeScript, along with hands-on experience in frameworks like Node.js and React (or similar TypeScript frameworks) - Proven experience in leading end-to-end architecture on high-traffic, high-availability platforms, ideally with exposure to cross-platform or migration projects - BFF (Backend for Frontend) experience, having designed, built, or maintained BFF layers that bridge frontend and backend systems - Track record of technical mentorship, cross-team collaboration, and problem-solving in fast-paced environments - Strong API and middleware skills, capable of designing and implementing APIs and backend services tailored for frontend needs Nice to have qualifications include experience with Scala or other JVM languages, exposure to cloud platforms, microservices, and modern DevOps practices, as well as prior work on large-scale migration or cross-platform initiatives.
