Description
You will be responsible for leading all phases in delivering a large capability or set of products. Your role will involve tackling hard/complex debugging, triaging, incident response, and reverse-engineering tasks. Additionally, you will actively participate in planning and performing code and architecture reviews of your team's product to ensure the quality and integrity of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Identifying opportunities for improvement in how the team works through the usage of recommended tools and practices will also be a key part of your responsibilities. Understanding and influencing the architecture of multiple systems, remaining up-to-date on evolving standards, platform features, and critical vendor and community provided technologies, and effectively triaging highly complex issues will be crucial aspects of your role. You will own the technical testing and performance of the products or processes you support and communicate effectively about the tradeoffs between technical, analytical, and product needs. Your responsibilities will also include influencing technical peers outside the team, setting a consistent example of agile development practices, coaching other engineers to work as a team with Product and Experience Design (XD), creating and improving internal libraries and tools, providing technical leadership on the product, and determining the technical approach. Proactively communicating status and issues to your manager and demonstrating a commitment to delivery deadlines, especially those critical to Best Buy's continued success, will also be essential. Basic qualifications for this role include 10+ years of relevant technical professional experience with a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. Additionally, you should have 3+ years of practitioner level knowledge of large-scale data warehouse and BI tools migration to Google Cloud data lake, 3+ years of experience with cloud computing services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud), 5+ years of hands-on designing data lakes, and reviewing code to comply with design. Preferred qualifications include experience working in an omni-channel retail environment, a passion for staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends, being proactive in learning new skills and sharing knowledge with the team, and the ability to balance technical considerations with business requirements.
