1. Role Overview

The Staff Nurse will manage the day-to-day operations of the campus Medical Centre, providing primary health care, first aid, emergency support, health counselling, and medical documentation for students, faculty, and staff. The role ensures the safety and well-being of the campus community with prompt and professional medical service.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Clinical Care & First Aid

  • Provide first aid, basic treatment, and primary medical care for illnesses and injuries.
  • Assess medical conditions and determine the need for hospital referral or emergency attention.
  • Monitor and treat common issues (fever, dehydration, allergies, sprains, wounds, headaches, etc.).

B. Emergency Response

  • Respond immediately to accidents, sports injuries, fainting, asthma attacks, or critical conditions on campus.
  • Coordinate ambulance services and accompany the student/staff when needed.
  • Maintain readiness of emergency equipment (BP apparatus, glucometer, oxygen kit, etc.).

C. Medical Records & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate patient logs, treatment records, and medical reports.
  • Update and organize student/staff medical histories for administrative or audit purposes.
  • Support documentation for NAAC, NBA, AICTE and other compliance requirements.

D. Medicine & Inventory Management

  • Maintain stock of essential medicines, first-aid supplies, and consumables.
  • Monitor expiry dates, usage trends, and place purchase requests on time.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of medical supplies.

E. Health Monitoring & Preventive Care

  • Conduct routine health checks for students, staff, and hostel residents.
  • Identify and report communicable diseases, outbreaks, or health risks.
  • Provide guidance on hygiene, hydration, menstruation, nutrition, and basic wellness.

F. Hostel & Campus Support

  • Provide medical attention for hostel students, including night emergencies if required.
  • Inspect and monitor hygiene standards in hostels, canteens, and dining areas.
  • Report health-related observations to the administration promptly.

G. Events & Activities

  • Offer medical support during sports events, fests, workshops, and college gatherings.
  • Set up temporary first-aid stations for large events.
  • Assist during health camps, vaccination drives, and wellness programs.

3. Skills & Competencies

  • Strong clinical and first-aid skills.
  • Ability to handle emergencies calmly and professionally.
  • Good record-keeping and documentation skills.
  • Compassionate communication and student-friendly behaviour.
  • Knowledge of campus health requirements and youth health issues.

4. Qualifications

  • Diploma / B.Sc. in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Registered Nurse (RN/RM) with valid registration.
  • Minimum 3–5+ years of clinical experience, preferably in hospitals or institutions.
  • Certification in First Aid / Emergency Care (preferred).
