Job Description

As a Staff Nurse/RN, you will be responsible for providing professional nursing services and patient care in various inpatient and outpatient settings. Your role will involve following the established nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation while ensuring adherence to hospital or department policies, university policies, and nursing procedures, standards, and practices. Key Responsibilities: - Provide direct, professional nursing care to a specified population of patients in inpatient or outpatient settings. - Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments. - Evaluate new and existing patients to determine priority and suitability of treatment or need for modifications. - Administer prescribed medications, apply sterile dressings, perform phlebotomy, and monitor vital signs. - Maintain confidentiality of patient records. - Perform specialized nursing procedures related to the unique needs of a particular patient population. - Oversee and guide the work of other nursing and support staff. - Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements: - Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program; no previous experience required. - Certification/Licensure from the State of New Mexico as a Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending. - Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: - Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards. - Familiarity with patient evaluation and triage procedures. - Understanding of clinical operations, procedures, and nursing theory and practice. - Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care programs. - Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records. - Knowledge of clinical and surgical facilities, instruments, equipment, and medication administration procedures. - Proficiency in drawing intravenous and peripheral blood. - Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions on sensitive, confidential issues.
