Staff Nurse – Critical Care (Experienced)

Department

Critical Care Unit (ICU / CCU / MICU / SICU)

Reports To

Nurse In-Charge / Nursing Supervisor / Critical Care Manager

Job Summary

The Staff Nurse – Critical Care is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients. The role requires advanced clinical skills, strong decision-making ability, and experience in managing life-threatening conditions in a fast-paced critical care environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in ICU/CCU
  • Continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and neurological status
  • Administer medications, IV infusions, blood products, and titrated drips as prescribed
  • Operate and monitor critical care equipment (ventilators, monitors, infusion pumps)
  • Assist with emergency procedures, intubation, resuscitation, and bedside interventions
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition

Patient Safety & Quality

  • Follow infection control protocols and patient safety standards
  • Ensure accurate documentation of nursing care and patient progress
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, and safety initiatives
  • Adhere to hospital policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding care plans
  • Provide emotional support and education to patients and caregivers

Professional Development

  • Mentor junior nurses and new staff in the critical care unit
  • Participate in ongoing training, certifications, and skill development
  • Stay updated with latest critical care nursing practices and protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma / BSc Nursing / GNM from a recognized institution
  • Valid Nursing Council Registration
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in Critical Care / ICU

Preferred Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (if applicable)
  • Critical Care Nursing Certification (preferred)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
  • Proficiency in ICU equipment and technology
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Compassionate, patient-focused approach

Work Environment

  • Rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • High-acuity, fast-paced critical care setting

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
