Staff Backend Engineer - Java Programming

As a Backend Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading and taking ownership of the backend team throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This includes managing requirements, estimations, and overseeing the release in the production environment. Your role will involve developing new features and enhancements for the product in a secure, well-tested, and high-performance manner. You will need to establish architectural guidelines for the team, implement best practices, and ensure code quality meets internal standards for maintainability in a high-scale web environment. Conducting code reviews and advocating for coding standards will also be part of your responsibilities. Collaboration with stakeholders to deliver required functionalities to the market will be essential. Additionally, you will be expected to troubleshoot application issues, support client queries, provide accurate task estimates, communicate task statuses clearly, and identify potential risks. Your commitment to task completion and problem-solving skills will play a crucial role in the efficient resolution of challenges. Performance tuning of application code at various service levels and incorporating design changes to enhance application performance will be key tasks. To qualify for this role, you must possess a minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with 6-8 years of experience in Java and J2EE/Java EE. A strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, SQL concepts, partitioning, and indexing techniques is required. Proficiency in writing optimized queries, building RESTful web services, and familiarity with CI tools and build pipelines are essential. Your ability to write modular, well-documented, and maintainable code, coupled with experience in developing operationally critical services, particularly in eCommerce on the cloud, will be advantageous. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, effective time management, and problem-solving acumen are qualities that will contribute to your success in this role.
