Sr. Manager - EHV Substation Design

Key Responsibilities:

Substation Design & Engineering

• Lead the design of AIS/GIS EHV substations (220kV, 400kV, 765kV) including layout, equipment sizing, and protection coordination.
• Prepare and review detailed engineering documents SLDs, GA drawings, schematics, control & protection schemes, and bill of materials.
• Guide the preparation of civil interface drawings and electrical clearances as per IS/IEC/IEEE standards.
• Validate equipment selection transformers, circuit breakers, isolators, CTs, PTs, surge arresters, busbars, control panels, etc.
• Ensure compliance with technical specifications from clients, utilities, and consultants.

Project Coordination

• Interface with project management, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure engineering deliverables align with project timelines.
• Support tendering and proposal teams with technical inputs, design optimization, and costing.
• Conduct technical discussions with clients, consultants, and vendors.

Team Leadership

• Lead a team of engineers and draftsmen for the delivery of high-quality substation design packages.
• Monitor team performance and provide technical mentoring and guidance.
• Conduct internal reviews, design validation, and design risk assessments.

Standards & Compliance

• Ensure all engineering deliverables are as per applicable codes and standards (IS, IEC, IEEE, CEA).
• Maintain quality documentation, engineering change control, and design audit trails.
• Support QA/QC and safety teams in achieving compliance during engineering and execution.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred)
• 1220 years of experience in substation design for EHV systems
• Experience with both

  AIS and GIS substations

  is highly desirable

Preferred Skills & Tools:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, DigSILENT, and other relevant engineering software
• Strong knowledge of substation protection schemes, control & relay coordination
• Experience in

  BIM

  workflows for substation projects (preferred but not mandatory)
• Familiarity with tendering, BOQ preparation, and project costing
• Excellent interpersonal, team management, and client-facing communication skills
