Job Description

Position: Sr. Database Engineer US shift (Eastern Time) Location: Kolkata or Bangalore Full time permanent position US shift (Eastern Time) : 4.30PM to 12.30AM IST (complete work from home) Experience required: 6-8+ years Major skills required: SQL, C# or Python, any ETL tool Product Development: Work with the business analysts to understand the high level business need and requirements; Work with operation team to understand issues and provide step-by-step solutions; Implement business logic using SQL; Monitor the system for any issues and quickly respond to emergencies; Deep detailed understanding of internal ETL tool; Prepare product for the release and drive the process; Proficiency in query optimization (understanding query plans, improving execution time etc.); Write scripts using internal code language (C# based) in order to optimize the process; Understand the overall process and data flows; Perform detailed analysis of the code and do research to help analysts understand current situation and make a decision. Experience and required skills: Strong understanding of relational databases; Advanced SQL knowledge is required; Working experience with MPP (MPP Massively Parallel Processing) Databases, understanding database design (data distribution, partitioning etc.); Medium Linux knowledge is required; C# or Python mid-level; Experience with analytic reporting tools such as SAP Business Object is preferred; Ability to work in a multi-cultured team environment; Strong oral and written communication skills.
