Sr Associate Software Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Work with MS Word templates and Appian programming to develop and support automation solutions.
• Review, analyze, and enhance existing VBA code to meet evolving business and regulatory requirements.
• Customize and extend VBA functionalities by adding new features and modifying existing logic.
• Perform thorough testing and validation of code changes to ensure they meet business needs and are free from defects.
• Collaborate with regulatory experts and business stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Automate repetitive manual processes using VBA macros and Office automation to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
• Implement robust error-handling mechanisms and apply effective debugging techniques for code stability and maintainability.
• Document VBA code and related processes clearly for ease of understanding, maintenance, and handover.
• Provide technical support in validation activities to ensure high-quality deliverables across applications and platforms.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of scientific and regulatory support tools, including automation and modernization initiatives.
• Support Agile/Scrum processes, participate in sprint planning, demos, and feedback sessions.
• Interact with business stakeholders to demonstrate automation capabilities, gather feedback, and drive iterative improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field
• 5 to 9 years of relevant experience in software automation and development

Must-Have Skills:

• Proficiency in VBA development and MS Office macros/automation
• Familiarity with Appian programming and low-code development
• Strong skills in reviewing and enhancing existing codebases
• Experience gathering requirements and engaging with business stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to technical challenges
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum)
• Proficiency in automation tools and validation software
• Ability to write functional requirements for modern web applications

Good-to-Have Skills:

• 45 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
• Domain knowledge in scientific applications and software systems
• Familiarity with low-code/no-code automation platforms
• Understanding of software governance, DevOps, CI/CD practices
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Professional Certifications:

• SAFe for Teams certification (preferred)
