As a part of the Underwriting team at Better, you will serve as the gatekeeper of financial integrity, meticulously verifying collateral and credit documentation to ensure loans are prepared for closing in accordance with agency guidelines. Your responsibilities will include: - Completing the final underwriting review of Conforming loans by examining collateral and basic credit documents. - Analyzing collateral documents such as title, tax certificate, appraisals, and homeowners insurance policies. - Reviewing the Automated Underwriting System and addressing any red flags or special messages. - Calculating ratios during final approval and ensuring alignment with the Loan Origination Software. - Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure pending loan tasks are completed. To be successful in this role, you must meet the following requirements: - Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in US Mortgage. - Knowledge of Agency guidelines for decision making. - Understanding of Credit and Collateral documents. - Meticulous attention to detail. - Strong data analysis capability and ability to communicate findings clearly. - Knowledge of FNMA and Freddie Mac Guidelines. - Detailed understanding of credit report, income, assets, and collateral documents.
