Job Description

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with at least 7 years of experience in managing, optimizing, and supporting SQL Server databases, as well as a strong background in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). The ideal candidate will have expertise in maintaining high availability, ensuring security, and improving performance while supporting data integration, reporting, and business intelligence (BI) solutions. Required Skills: Good knowledge of high availability solutions, backup/recovery, replication,AOAG,cluster and security management. In-depth experience with query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning using tools like SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, and Extended Events, SQL Sentry. Advanced experience in SSIS for ETL processes, including performance tuning and job scheduling. Strong skills in T-SQL, PowerShell, and automation of routine DBA tasks. Experience with cloud database services such as Azure SQL Database. Key Responsibilities: 1. Database Administration: Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances, including the latest versions (SQL Server 2016/2019/2022) for production, staging, and development environments. Configure and manage database server components, including SQL Server Agent, Full Text Search,and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Implement and manage high availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, SQL Server Failover Clustering, and Replication. Develop and test disaster recovery (DR) plans, including backup, restore, and replication strategies. Monitor and ensure RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) compliance across environments. Enforce database security policies, including role-based access control , encryption, SQL Server auditing, and data masking. Implement encryption methods such as Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and Always Encrypted for data protection. Work with security teams to ensure compliance with industry regulations security hardening. Review and optimize long-running queries and stored procedures using execution plans, indexing strategies, and query refactoring. Perform index maintenance tasks (rebuild, reorganize, defragmentation) to optimize read and write operations. Optimize blocking and deadlocking issues to enhance application performance. Proactively monitor system performance, diagnose performance issues using tools such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs (Dynamic Management Views), and Performance Monitor. Recommend hardware upgrades and storage optimization strategies as required. Manage and execute SQL Server version upgrades and service pack deployments across environments. Perform thorough testing and validation of databases after upgrades to ensure stability and performance. Design and implement SQL Server backup strategies, including full, differential, and transaction log backups with any third-party tools like DELL. Implement and manage point-in-time recovery for SQL Server databases to minimize data loss. Monitor the success of backup jobs and alert system administrators of any failures. 2. SSIS – SQL Server Integration Services: Deploy complex ETL packages using SSIS. Understanding how to deploy SSIS packages to SQL Server or MSDB (SQL Server's system database for SSIS). Know how to schedule and automate the execution of SSIS packages using SQL Server Agent. Monitor and troubleshoot SSIS package executions. 3. SSRS – SQL Server Reporting Services: Know how to configure and deploy reports to the SSRS server. Configure security settings to control who can access reports and manage report server roles and permissions. Understand how to schedule reports to be run at specific intervals or triggered by events. Be familiar with email delivery configurations for reports, including setting up subscriptions in SSRS. Migrating rdl’s and subscriptions from one SSRS server to another server. Preferred Skills: MySQL with Linux. PowerShell scripting. T-SQL coding.
