You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that empower research scientists. In this role, you'll automate operations, monitor system health, and respond proactively to incidents to minimize downtime. Joining a multi-functional team of scientists and software professionals, you will help build and support scientific software platforms used for evaluating drug candidates and their biological effects. This includes enabling Design, Make, Test, and Analyze processes for our Large Molecule Discovery Research team, and interfacing with assay management and compound inventory systems. The ideal candidate brings strong full-stack software engineering skills, experience in pharmaceutical or biotech environments, and expertise spanning SQL, backend, frontend technologies, and automated testing. Roles & Responsibilities Own and deliver complex software projects from conception through deployment. Collaborate closely with product teams, scientists, business stakeholders, and technical peers. Analyze functional and technical requirements, translating them into software architecture and detailed design specifications. Design, develop, and implement applications, including custom reports, interfaces, and system enhancements. Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies: unit, integration, and automation tests to ensure software quality. Conduct code reviews to maintain high code quality and adherence to standards. Create and maintain thorough documentation covering architecture, design, deployment, disaster recovery, and operational procedures. Provide ongoing application support and maintenance to ensure smooth, efficient operation. Stay abreast of the latest technology, security trends, and industry advancements. Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree OR Master's degree with 46 years experience in Computer Science, IT, Computational Chemistry, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, or related fields OR Bachelor's degree with 68 years experience in related fields OR Diploma with 1012 years experience in related fields. Preferred Qualifications & Experience 3+ years implementing and supporting scientific software platforms in biopharma. Experience with ML or generative AI technologies. Proficiency in Java or Python. Proficiency in at least one JavaScript UI framework (e.g., ExtJS, React, Angular). Strong SQL skills (Oracle, PostgreSQL, Databricks). Experience with event-driven architecture and serverless AWS services (EventBridge, SQS, Lambda, ECS). Experience with Benchling is a plus. Hands-on full-stack software development expertise. Strong grasp of Agile/Scrum software development methodologies. Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Experience using monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk). Skilled with automated testing frameworks. Knowledge of big data technologies (Spark, Databricks, Kafka). Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot). Professional Certifications AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (preferred).
