Solaris Administrator

Role Overview: As a Solaris Administrator, your role will involve the installation, implementation, customization, operation, recovery, and performance tuning of Solaris Operating Systems. You will be responsible for maintaining all Solaris server hardware and software systems, administering server performance, utilization, and ensuring availability. Additionally, you will play a key role in preparing program-level and user-level documentation, supporting infrastructure implementations and deployments, and troubleshooting and fixing issues in Solaris Operating Systems. Key Responsibilities: - Installing and maintaining all Solaris server hardware and software systems - Administering server performance, utilization, and ensuring availability - Preparing program-level and user-level documentation as needed - Performing core technical aspects to support infrastructure implementations and deployments - Participating in system analysis, requirements gathering, and documentation - Supporting configuration and implementation deployments - Contributing to technical design/implementation documentation - Supporting requirements understanding and issue resolution - Maintaining and installing Oracle ZFS Storage - Troubleshooting and fixing issues in Solaris Operating Systems (8, 9, 10, and 11) - Configuring APACHE web server in both standalone and Cluster environments - Creating and extending Volume Groups and file systems in both standalone and Cluster environments - Working with VERITAS volume manager and cluster issues - Creating Users and Groups locally and centrally in NIS and LDAP servers - Installing, upgrading, and patching Solaris servers - Decommissioning Solaris servers - Monitoring VERITAS cluster servers, starting and stopping Cluster Services, moving resource groups across nodes, and more - Expert level experience with Solaris server performance monitoring, kernel tuning, and troubleshooting - Working with ticketing tools like Remedy and Manage Now - Knowledge of OS clustering, virtualization, storage administration, and integration with operating systems - Participating in troubleshooting capacity and availability issues - Working with project teams to prepare components for production - Providing support for ongoing platform infrastructure availability - Working on prioritized/assigned features for ongoing sprints Qualification Required: - Experience in Solaris server administration - Knowledge of Oracle ZFS Storage - Experience with VERITAS volume manager and cluster - Strong troubleshooting skills in Solaris Operating Systems - Familiarity with ticketing tools like Remedy and Manage Now,
