As a Software Engineer I, Monitoring at Smart Data Solutions (SDS), you will play a crucial role in the monitoring and incident management of software products to ensure the health, performance, and availability of systems. You will collaborate with support and implementation teams to implement preventive solutions, maintain detailed incident logs, and provide post-mortem analysis for continuous improvement. Additionally, you will be responsible for system performance optimization, assignment of workflow improvements, and defect fixes to Monitoring Engineers. You will also develop and deploy automated processes for monitoring and maintenance tasks, ensuring comprehensive coverage across infrastructure, applications, and services. Your role will involve developing custom scripts and automation solutions to extend monitoring capabilities, maintaining alerting mechanisms, and identifying automation opportunities for system-wide reduction of alerts and errors. Collaboration and communication with product and engineering teams to understand software architecture and performance goals will be essential. You will also be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation for monitoring configurations, processes, and incident resolutions, as well as generating regular performance reports and analytics. To excel in this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 4+ years of experience in software monitoring, system performance analysis, or a related role. Proficiency in monitoring tools like Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, or equivalent, as well as hands-on experience with Java, SQL, Unix-like operating systems, and Windows operating systems is required. Strong troubleshooting skills, familiarity with agile development methodologies, and knowledge of relational databases are also key qualifications. The work premises are located in Kochi, near the Ernakulam South Railway Station and the Ernakulam KSRTC Bus Stand. Kindly be informed that this position requires working in rotational shifts, including morning, afternoon, and night shifts. Upon joining the company, you will receive comprehensive training to fulfill the responsibilities associated with this role. Your primary duties will involve monitoring information systems operations to ensure continuous availability and optimal functionality. This includes utilizing monitoring tools to track the health of applications and promptly addressing any hardware or software issues that may arise. In the event of system outages, it is crucial to follow proper escalation protocols to facilitate timely resolution. Your tasks will encompass a wide range of information systems operations activities such as computer and telecommunications/communications operations, data entry, LAN/WAN administration, and operations support. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining system security policies and procedures, compiling records and reports related to network/information systems operations, and overseeing the operation of various communications equipment across multiple platforms. Furthermore, you will play a vital role in managing security and office devices such as CCTV cameras, webcams, and air conditioners. Your responsibilities will also include conducting routine testing and analysis of network facilities, troubleshooting network systems, and proactively addressing environmental/fire alerts through the environmental/fire tracking systems. As part of your daily tasks, you will be expected to provide technical support to internal and external clients/staff via phone calls, tickets, or chat. You will also collaborate with sales, accounts, and in-house teams to facilitate various activities and ensure seamless communication within the organization. Additionally, you will be responsible for updating daily tickets for team members, preparing and sending reports as needed, and identifying and addressing operational issues in client/in-house computer systems and applications. Moreover, you will be involved in environmental monitoring of IT infrastructures, assisting in conducting SAM audits, managing various storage devices, and providing pre-sale technical analysis and support to sales personnel regarding IT and ITES. Your role will also entail filtering and escalating client issues to the relevant teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and conducting lead data finding support through internet searches.
