Description
As a Software Engineer I, Monitoring at Smart Data Solutions (SDS), you will play a crucial role in the monitoring and incident management of software products to ensure the health, performance, and availability of systems. You will collaborate with support and implementation teams to implement preventive solutions, maintain detailed incident logs, and provide post-mortem analysis for continuous improvement. Additionally, you will be responsible for system performance optimization, assignment of workflow improvements, and defect fixes to Monitoring Engineers. You will also develop and deploy automated processes for monitoring and maintenance tasks, ensuring comprehensive coverage across infrastructure, applications, and services. Your role will involve developing custom scripts and automation solutions to extend monitoring capabilities, maintaining alerting mechanisms, and identifying automation opportunities for system-wide reduction of alerts and errors. Collaboration and communication with product and engineering teams to understand software architecture and performance goals will be essential. You will also be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation for monitoring configurations, processes, and incident resolutions, as well as generating regular performance reports and analytics. To excel in this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 4+ years of experience in software monitoring, system performance analysis, or a related role. Proficiency in monitoring tools like Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, or equivalent, as well as hands-on experience with Java, SQL, Unix-like operating systems, and Windows operating systems is required. Strong troubleshooting skills, familiarity with agile development methodologies, and knowledge of relational databases are also key qualifications.
