Software Engineer Staff

Job Family Definition:

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design.

Management Level Definition:

Contributions impact technical components of HPE products, solutions, or services regularly and sustainable. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Provides expertise and partnership to functional and technical project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for achieving objectives. May provide team leadership and mentoring to others.

What youll do:

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans to validate SONiC functionality on Broadcom-based switching platforms.

• Validate advanced L2/L3 features includingBGP, OSPF, VXLAN, EVPN, QinQ, andmulticast.

• Test and verifySAI (Switch Abstraction Interface)integration and ASIC driver behavior.

• Automate functional, regression, scale, and performance test cases usingPythonandRobot Framework.

• Perform deep-dive debugging across ASIC, NOS, and control/data plane layers.

• Collaborate with the SONiC open-source community to contribute fixes, enhancements, and upstream improvements.

• Validate optical modules across various speeds, breakout configurations, and transceiver management protocols (e.g.,CMIS,DOM).

What you need to bring:

• Bacheloror Masterdegree inElectronics,Computer Science, or a related field.

• 10 years of experience innetwork software or hardware testing.

• Strong understanding ofL2/L3 networking protocolsandswitch/router architecture.

• Hands-on experience withSONiC NOSandSAI-based architectures.

• Proficiency inPythonand experience with test automation frameworks such asRobot Framework.

• Solid grasp of SONiC architecture, includingSAI,FRR,Redis DB,Docker, andMinigraph.

• Familiarity with SDKs such asSDKLTorOpenNSLis a strong plus.

• Experience with traffic generators likeSpirentorIxNetwork.

• Proficient with tools such asGit,Jenkins,Docker, and lab-based testbed environments.

• Strong analytical, debugging, and documentation skills.

• Contributions to SONiC or other open-source networking projects are highly valued.

• Exposure totelemetry,gNMI,OpenConfig, andYANG/Netconf/REST APItesting.

• Be at the forefront ofopen networking innovationandcloud-scale NOS development.

• Work with theworldmost advanced switching ASICsand cutting-edge technologies.
