The role of the HOD is to ensure that high standards of excellence are maintained in the school through high quality of learning for each student. He/ She will be responsible for carrying out the plan laid out by the Principal for the academic year in word and spirit . ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The key responsibilities of the HOD will be: 1. The prime role of the Head of the Department is to provide strong academic leadership 2. The Head of Department is required to lead, manage and develop the department to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards of excellence in all its activities. 3. To oversee the smooth functioning of the department and ensuring consistent provision for academic ambiance 4. To manage and motivate all departmental staff, to enable the students to receive skilled education in the subject, in a positive, encouraging and effective working environment 5. Oversee the teaching performance, research activities and funded projects of all faculty of his/her department. 6. To ensure all essential resource material is available for use as required. 7. Guide in question paper and Corrections 8. To Motivate and Steer the team 9. To Observe and guide the Team Note: The roles and responsibilities outlined above are not meant to be an exhaustive list of tasks. Flexibility is required and the incumbent is expected to carry out any other related duties that are necessary for the optimum functioning of the school as a whole.
