SMT Quality Shift In-charge

Job Summary:

The SMT Quality Shift Incharge is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance processes during their shift within the SMT production line. This role ensures that products meet required standards, monitors defect trends, leads root cause analysis, and works closely with production and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement in quality performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage all quality assurance activities during the shift in the SMT area.
  
• Monitor SMT line processes (solder paste printing, pick & place, reflow soldering) to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  
• Conduct regular audits, first article inspections (FAI), and in-process inspections.
  
• Review and analyze defect data (from SPI, AOI, AXI, ICT, and functional testing) to identify trends and initiate corrective actions.
  
• Coordinate with SMT production, maintenance, and process engineering to resolve quality-related issues.
  
• Lead shift-level quality meetings and defect review meetings.
  
• Ensure timely escalation of quality problems and non-conformities.
  
• Train and mentor quality inspectors and operators on quality standards and procedures.
  
• Maintain proper documentation related to quality checks, inspection records, and defect logs.
  
• Ensure compliance with ISO, IPC, and customer-specific standards.
  
• Support internal and external audits.
  

Key Skills & Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electronics / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  
• 5-7 years of experience in SMT manufacturing with a focus on quality assurance.
  
• Good knowledge of SMT processes and equipment (e.g., SPI, AOI, Reflow, Pick & Place).
  
• Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, etc.).
  
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and BOMs.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
  
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  
• Proficient in MS Office and quality reporting tools.
