Workshop Manager - Ashok Leyland Authorized Service Center Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Workshop Manager to lead operations at our Ashok Leyland Authorized Service Center. The ideal candidate will oversee all workshop activities, ensure exceptional service quality, and drive operational excellence while maintaining Ashok Leyland's high standards of customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Operations Management Oversee daily workshop operations and ensure smooth functioning of all service activities Manage workflow allocation and prioritize service jobs to optimize productivity and customer satisfaction Ensure compliance with Ashok Leyland's service standards, procedures, and quality guidelines Monitor and maintain workshop KPIs including turnaround time, first-time fix rate, and customer satisfaction scores Coordinate with parts department to ensure availability of genuine Ashok Leyland spare parts Team Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and develop a team of skilled technicians and service advisors Conduct regular training sessions on new Ashok Leyland technologies and service procedures Implement performance management systems and conduct regular performance reviews Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development Ensure proper staffing levels and manage work schedules effectively Quality Assurance & Compliance Maintain adherence to Ashok Leyland's service quality standards and warranty procedures Implement and monitor quality control processes for all repair and maintenance work Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment Conduct regular audits and inspections of workshop operations Handle warranty claims and ensure proper documentation Customer Service Excellence Ensure exceptional customer experience and maintain high customer satisfaction ratings Handle customer escalations and resolve service-related issues promptly Implement customer feedback mechanisms and drive service improvements Maintain transparent communication with customers regarding service progress and timelines Financial Management Monitor workshop profitability and cost control measures Manage workshop budgets, including labor costs and operational expenses Optimize resource utilization to maximize efficiency and profitability Track and report on workshop performance metrics and financial indicators Technical Expertise Provide technical guidance and support to technicians for complex repairs Stay updated with latest Ashok Leyland technologies, service bulletins, and technical updates Ensure proper diagnostic procedures and repair methodologies are followed Coordinate with Ashok Leyland technical support for complex technical issues Required Qualifications Education Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field Additional certifications in automotive service management preferred Experience Minimum 5-7 years of experience in commercial vehicle service operations At least 3 years in a managerial role within automotive service industry Prior experience with Ashok Leyland or other commercial vehicle brands preferred Experience in authorized service center operations highly valued Technical Skills In-depth knowledge of commercial vehicle systems (engine, transmission, electrical, hydraulics) Proficiency in diagnostic tools and service equipment Understanding of Ashok Leyland service procedures and warranty processes Knowledge of service management software and digital tools Leadership & Management Skills Strong leadership and team management capabilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Problem-solving and decision-making abilities Customer service orientation with focus on satisfaction Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities Key Performance Indicators Workshop productivity and efficiency metrics Customer satisfaction scores and feedback ratings First-time fix rate and quality indicators Turnaround time for service jobs Workshop profitability and cost management Team performance and development metrics Compliance with Ashok Leyland standards What We Offer Competitive salary package with performance incentives Comprehensive benefits including health insurance and retirement plans Ongoing training and professional development opportunities Career advancement opportunities within our service network Supportive work environment with modern facilities and equipment Recognition and rewards for outstanding performance Work Environment Full-time position with workshop hours (typically 6 days a week) Modern, well-equipped service facility Collaborative team environment Occasional travel for training or corporate meetings may be required Application Process Interested candidates meeting the above criteria are invited to submit their detailed resume along with a cover letter highlighting their relevant experience and achievements in workshop management.
