Job Description

Service Advisor Position Summary

The Automobile Service Advisor acts as the main point of contact between customers and the service department. They are responsible for understanding customer needs, recommending appropriate vehicle maintenance or repair services, providing accurate cost estimates, and ensuring a positive service experience from drop-off to pickup.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Interaction
  • Greet customers, listen to their concerns, and document vehicle symptoms and service requests.
  • Communicate recommended services, maintenance schedules, and repair options in a clear, customer-friendly manner.
  • Provide updates on repair progress and notify customers of any changes or additional work needed.
  • Service Coordination
  • Create and manage repair orders, ensuring all information is accurate and complete.
  • Coordinate with technicians to relay customer concerns and understand repair recommendations.
  • Schedule service appointments and ensure timely completion of work.
  • Sales & Recommendations
  • Advise customers on necessary maintenance based on vehicle condition, manufacturer guidelines, and inspection results.
  • Upsell additional services or products when appropriate, while maintaining customer trust and transparency.
  • Documentation & Administration
  • Prepare cost estimates, obtain approvals, and maintain records of services performed.
  • Process payments, warranties, and insurance claims when applicable.
  • Maintain service logs, inventory information, and customer databases.
  • Customer Satisfaction
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through professionalism, communication, and quality service.
  • Address complaints or concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Follow up with customers after service to ensure expectations were met.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Basic understanding of automotive systems and repair processes
  • Ability to interpret technical information for non-technical customers
  • Organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency with service management software and standard office tools
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; automotive or service advisor certifications (e.g., ASE) are a plus

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced service department at a dealership or independent repair shop
  • Frequent interaction with customers, technicians, and parts staff
  • May require weekend or extended hours depending on business needs

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
