Job Description

The Zendesk Core Services Packaging and Consumption team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Backend to drive successful feature adoption for Zendesk customers. The ideal candidate should possess experience in analyzing various data sources with strong SQL skills, a solid understanding of domain-driven design, and a willingness to explore the unknown. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with product management, architecture, and engineers to design simple solutions to complex problems, ensuring delivery on commitments, following best practices in frameworks and tools, championing proper test coverage, participating in code reviews and design discussions, and partnering across all areas of the software development life cycle. Additionally, you will work across teams and organization boundaries to standardize and integrate services, tools, and workflows. To excel in this role, you should have at least 4 years of relevant experience in an object-oriented language such as Scala or Java, proficiency with databases like MySQL and/or DynamoDB, analytical mindset, good articulation skills, experience with CI/CD and delivery systems, knowledge of API design, distributed systems, and Kafka, familiarity with log aggregation tools like Datadog, and a customer-first mentality in service incident management and data analysis. Moreover, you should have a hunger for learning new technologies, a collaborative attitude, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bonus skills include experience with JavaScript/Typescript, SaaS-based products, AWS stack (e.g., Aurora), Datawarehouse technologies like Snowflake, and Ruby on Rails. Please note that candidates must be physically located and plan to work from Karnataka or Maharashtra. The role offers a hybrid experience with a mix of onsite and remote work, with the specific in-office schedule to be determined by the hiring manager.
