Senior Software Engineer II - UI (Front End)

As a Senior Software Engineer - II, UI in the UI framework team at Sumo Logic, you will be responsible for building rich user interfaces primarily for the mission-critical high-availability analytics platform using React and TypeScript. You will also participate in user experience design, architecture initiatives, and lead regular code reviews focusing on ease of use, visual appeal, reusability, and performance. Your role will involve building and maintaining tooling for Developer Productivity and Experience, as well as instrumenting and measuring UI performance to provide a best-in-class experience for customers. Collaboration with feature teams during design and development phases to ensure adherence to UI architectural standards and best practices will be essential. Additionally, you will write detailed design documents and documentation on platform-level design items and their implementation, promote cross-team awareness, mentor junior engineers, and improve software development processes. **Responsibilities:** - Building rich user interfaces primarily for the high-availability analytics platform using React and TypeScript. - Participating in user experience design, architecture initiatives, and leading regular code reviews. - Building and maintaining tooling for Developer Productivity and Experience. - Instrumenting and measuring UI performance to provide a best-in-class experience. - Collaborating with feature teams to ensure adherence to UI architectural standards. - Writing detailed design documents and documentation on platform-level design items. - Promoting cross-team awareness and mentoring junior engineers. **Required Qualifications And Skills:** - B.S. or M.S. in Computer Sciences or a related discipline. - 6-8 years of experience delivering enterprise-class JavaScript web applications. - Expertise in JavaScript/ES6/Typescript and 3+ years of experience with React. - Experience with NodeJS & Frontend Build Tools like Webpack / Vite etc. - Expertise in modern testing frameworks (e.g. React Testing Library, Jest, Karma, Cypress). - Experience working in an Agile development environment. - Experience leading projects and mentoring engineers. - Comfortable working with a remote team operating in multiple time zones. - Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical team members. - Experience working in teams with a heavy emphasis on Automation and Quality (CI/CD). **Desirable Skills:** - Familiarity with full stack web app development using Node.js / Next / Remix / GraphQL. - Experience leading a team of 3+ people. - Experience in the design, development, and maintenance of component-based architectures, preferably with React and Redux.
