Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer at Splunk AppDynamics, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to developing, maintaining, and supporting observability solutions for cloud and on-premises environments. Your role will involve designing and building highly scalable solutions to innovate on application observability. You will work with a team of highly capable peers across engineering, product management, and customer support, collaborating in an open environment to adapt to changing needs. The Data platform at AppDynamics is crucial to our architecture, processing over 100 billion data packets daily and handling more than 5 petabytes of data flow. Your responsibilities will include optimizing data pipelines, storage systems, and query engines for performance and efficiency. Leveraging technologies such as Kafka, ElasticSearch, Docker, and Kubernetes in cloud environments like AWS and Azure, you will contribute to the development of best-of-its-kind products. To excel in this role, you should have 10+ years of full-stack developer experience with a strong proficiency in Java programming language, data structures, algorithms, and concurrent programming. Extensive knowledge of SQL and experience with relational database engines like MySQL are essential, while familiarity with RDS or NoSQL (Dynamo, MongoDB) is a plus. Understanding microservices design using Dockers and Kubernetes, along with strong communication skills and the ability to adapt quickly, are key qualifications. Additionally, you will collaborate with product teams, data engineers, software developers, and product managers to achieve business goals. Mentoring team members in architecture principles, coding best practices, and system design, you will ensure robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for proactive issue detection and resolution. Supporting CI/CD processes and automating testing for data systems, you will stay updated on emerging trends in big data, machine learning, and distributed systems to propose innovative solutions. While experience in the Cloud Observability Space and familiarity with other languages like Python and front-end technologies are considered nice-to-have qualifications, the emphasis is on your overall skills and potential.
