Role Overview: As a software engineer at Discover, you will play a crucial role in developing the next-generation technologies that revolutionize how users connect and interact with information. You will work on strategic initiatives for the Discover Android client infrastructure, focusing on rendering, reliability, latency, and logging. This role will involve leading and mentoring a team to deliver exceptional user experiences while managing project priorities and deadlines effectively. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver strategic initiatives for Discover on Android client infrastructure, emphasizing rendering, reliability, latency, and logging. - Lead, mentor, and grow a team to develop client infrastructure, ensuring the delivery aligns with Discover Android's mission and goals. - Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, designing and implementing scalable and robust applications. - Review code developed by other engineers, providing feedback on style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency. - Contribute to existing documentation or educational content, adapting based on product/program updates and user feedback. - Triage product or system issues, analyzing sources of issues and their impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality. - Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. - 5 years of experience with Android mobile app development using Kotlin and Java. - 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, with 1 year of experience in large-scale application design and architecture. - 3 years of experience with Android application development. - 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing projects. Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field. - 5 years of experience with data structures/algorithms. - 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role. - Experience leading project teams and setting technical direction for mobile applications using native Android or Mobile Web technologies. - Experience in building or re-architecting products from scratch, especially large-scale mobile applications and complex architectures. - Understanding of Android performance profiling tools and techniques to optimize mobile app performance and resolve complex reliability issues.,
