Senior Software Development Engineer - Java & Python

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the API and Orchestration Services team at Hitachi Vantara, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining backend APIs and services that power the intelligence layer of Hitachi IQ. Your responsibilities will include developing scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs using Java and Python, as well as building orchestration services for managing compute, storage, FC, and Ethernet infrastructure. You will support and extend platform capabilities for multi-tenancy, RBAC, lifecycle automation, and Day 0-N operations. Your role will involve collaborating across cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software components. You will lead efforts to resolve performance bottlenecks, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement reliable, scalable fixes. Additionally, you will participate in Agile ceremonies, contribute to release cycles, POCs, prototypes, and customer issue resolutions. To excel in this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent field, along with 5-10 years of hands-on software development experience in enterprise products or infrastructure platforms. You should be proficient in Java (Spring Boot) and have strong experience with Python. Experience building infrastructure-aware applications for both AWS cloud and on-premises datacenters is essential. Furthermore, you should have a deep understanding of multithreading, parallel programming, Java Streams, and design principles. It would be advantageous to have knowledge of hardware platforms such as servers, switches, FC SAN, or enterprise storage arrays, as well as experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Ansible. Familiarity with event-driven architectures, message queues, enterprise compliance frameworks, and operational monitoring is also a plus.
