Senior Scientist in Antibody-based Therapeutics

You will be working in the Centre for Cancer Immunology at Southampton General Hospital, which is a newly constructed research building resulting from a significant fund-raising campaign. As the first dedicated cancer immunology centre in the UK, the centre holds a 40-year history of pioneering immunology and cancer research at Southampton. The activities at this centre range from pioneering discovery science to applied research, preclinical modelling, and first-in-human clinical trials, all supported by world-class facilities including state-of-the-art scientific laboratories and a clinical trials unit. Your role will be associated with the laboratory of Professors Sally Ward and Raimund Ober, focusing on protein engineering to develop novel antibody-based therapeutics. The interdisciplinary research program has led to approved therapeutics and is supported by major grants from Wellcome Trust, Cancer Research UK, and collaborating biopharma companies. You will oversee in vitro and in vivo cellular assays, with a strong track record in analyzing the behavior of antibody or protein-based therapeutics. **Key Responsibilities:** - Managing research projects and supervising junior technicians - Training laboratory members in immunological and in vivo techniques - Working collaboratively within the group to contribute to research productivity **Qualifications Required:** - Scientific knowledge equivalent to a Ph.D. level with 2-3 years of additional experience - Expertise in immunological assays, flow cytometry, microscopy analyses, and project management skills - Experience in expressing and purifying recombinant proteins/antibodies is desirable - Relevant academic qualifications, work experience, and good IT skills are required This position is open to non-UK/non-EU citizens as well.
