1.0. Job Identification 1.0. Job Identification Job Title: Senior Scientific Officer Job Code: RD.4 Department: Research & Development Supervisor: Director - R&D 2.0. Description of Main Mission This position involves a direct engagement with the Director of R&D and requires undertaking of molecular testing (wet lab) within R&D and quality control. Performance of candidates will be judged on their data organisation skills, micro-pipetting technique, troubleshooting skills, and ability to work in a self-managed environment. Primary Job Functions 1. Molecular testing experimentation (Mastermix preparation, Template Addition, and Data Analysis). 2. Maintenance of R&D materials in an organised manner as per established systems. 3. Execution and supervision of preventive maintenance activities in co-ordination with the quality assurance manager. 4. Execution and supervision of calibration activities in co-ordination with the quality assurance manager. 3.0. Skills/Knowledge Education Qualifications Masters degree in Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (mandatory) Doctorate degree in Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (preferred) Work Experience A minimum of 5 years experience working in a molecular testing laboratory (clinical and/or R&D) Skills Molecular assay setup (extremely good micropipetting technique) Expertise in RT-PCR data analysis. Expertise in plasmid preparation and agarose gel electrophoresis. 5.0. Remuneration Commensurate with experience and know-how.
