Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Patient Management:

Comprehensive care for elective & emergency cases (assessment, pre-op, intra-op, post-op).
Detailed history taking, physical exams, treatment planning.
Daily patient rounds, monitoring progress, managing complications.
Discharge planning and summaries.

Surgical Duties:

Performing common procedures (cholecystectomy, hernia repair, bowel resections).
Assisting in complex operations.
Leading emergency/on-call duties, including trauma and acute abdomen.

Team & Leadership:

Communicating with consultants and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
Supervising and teaching junior doctors/trainees.
Running ward rounds and presenting cases.

Documentation & Quality:

Maintaining accurate patient records and operative notes.
Participating in audits, M&M (Morbidity & Mortality) reviews, and clinical governance.
Ensuring adherence to safety (perioperative checklists, infection control) and hospital policies.

Emergency Response:

Responding to code blues, injuries, sudden illnesses.
Initiating resuscitation and coordinating with anaesthesia/ICU.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualification: MBBs, MS(Gen Surgery)/DNB(Gen Surgery)
