Job Description

The Senior Resident in Forensic Medicine will play a crucial role in supporting the teaching of MBBS students, assisting in medico-legal work, conducting autopsies, and engaging in various academic, clinical, and administrative responsibilities under the guidance of faculty members. In terms of teaching and academics, you will collaborate with faculty members to deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions to MBBS students. Additionally, you will lead small group discussions, partake in assessment processes, and assist in organizing seminars, CMEs, and workshops. Regarding medico-legal duties, you will actively participate in postmortem examinations while preparing medico-legal reports, death certificates, and toxicology summaries. It will also be your responsibility to maintain accurate medico-legal records and attend court proceedings when required for medico-legal testimony. For clinical duties, you will oversee the chain-of-custody of forensic samples and evidence, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures during autopsies and sample handling procedures. In the realm of research and publications, you will be involved in clinical and medico-legal research projects, contribute to departmental research activities, and support academic publications. Furthermore, you will assist undergraduate and postgraduate students with their thesis and dissertation work. Administrative duties will involve timely documentation of casework, submission of medico-legal reports, active participation in departmental meetings, quality audits, and statutory record maintenance. You will also contribute to the maintenance of the forensic museum and related academic infrastructure. To qualify for this role, you must hold an MBBS degree with an MD in Forensic Medicine from a recognized institute, as per NMC norms. Additionally, you should be registered with the State Medical Council or the Medical Council of India. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of medical jurisprudence and criminal law relevant to medico-legal practice. Proficiency in conducting autopsies, preparing medico-legal documentation, strong academic acumen, and teaching aptitude are essential. Attention to detail, ethical integrity, and the ability to handle sensitive cases, alongside effective communication skills for court testimony and student interaction, are key competencies required. The appointment is typically for a 1-year period, subject to renewal based on performance and institutional needs.,
