The Applied R&D Software Engineer will conduct target-oriented research to directly apply findings to the specification, design, further development, and incremental improvement of products, services, systems, tools, processes, etc. Integrates, verifies, tests, and modifies SW system components and capitalizes on innovative solutions to meet particular requirements and specifications.The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience and a solid understanding of all support processes (ITIL). With a thorough understanding of cloud-native software development, you should feel equally comfortable supporting new software to automate administrative tasks and frameworks to simplify application operations, as well as technical support, deployment strategy, and test automation tool chains for complex, cloud-native distributed systems built on top of open-source technologies. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN Development of software on a real-time operating system, including design, and coding, as well as maintenance of software for Mobile gateway protocols, subscriber management systems. Implementation of the functional modules for the Serving and PDN Gateway, 5G SMF and UPF. Unit testing of features developed on Packet and Serving gateways. Maintenance of software with support and technical assistance. Independently work within broad guidelines and use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues. Work with substantial discretion and uses specialist knowledge, analytical skills, judgment and broad conceptual and practical experience to solve complex problems and to contribute to process improvements. Transfer concepts for professional direction of own organizational unit into actionable measures. KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE You have: Engineering Graduate or equivalent degree with 10+ years of experience. Good Experience in C/C++ and data structures programming. Good in operating system and networking concepts. Experience in debugging and maintaining control plane software Familiarity with UNIX based and real-time operating systems Strong C programming skills Experience in developing network protocols. It would be nice if you also had: Protocol development preferably, wireless experience, such as development on SGSN, GGSN, PGW/SGW/HenB, using GTP, charging protocols, RADIUS, Diameter IP and routing protocols.
