Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Role & responsibilities

You will be performing design and basic/ detailed engineering of various static equipment including above ground storage tanks (API 650, 620 and AWWA Codes), Pressure vessels, heat exchangers, Cryogenic storage tanks, Spheres, etc. You are expected to simultaneously work on several projects in adjoining sectors. The role is suitable for someone who is keen to learn, thrive on solving problems and enjoys taking responsibility. Responsibilities for this role will include, but not limited to the following:

• Design of plate and shell structures, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, storage tanks & Cryogenic tanks.
• Working on design of equipment using codes like API, AWWA, ASME, TEMA, AISC and ASCE codes.
• Working with a team of Engineers and draftspersons and responsible for their training, quality output, communications with client, timely deliverables and resolving technical issues.
• Performing advanced analysis in FEA to solve complex structural problems to predict stress points and points of failure. Conduct stress analysis and ensure compliance with ASME, API and other relevant codes and standards.
• Analyzing and design of various Pressure vessels, heat exchanges, evaporative coolers, using PV-Elite and compress softwares.
• Performing design calculations of pipe supports for using both analytical and FEA methods. FEA software includes Nozzle Pro, Ansys and in-house Mathcad tools.
• Performing analysis on shell buckles, tank settlements, tank shell nozzles, external pipe supports, field equipment, and platforms.
• Work in a multidisciplinary environment and present solutions are suitable to all disciplines.
• Continually develop new skills, follow changes in local and international codes and share knowledge with colleagues and partners.

Preferred candidate profile

The role is suitable for a candidate who has strong fundamental skills in Mechanics, analysis and design. A suitable candidate should have:

• B.E/B.tech or M.E/MTech in Mechanical Engineering with good academic record.
• Demonstrable experience in solving various mechanical problems.
• Have previous experience in design of various components mentioned in above job description.
• Knowledge of latest Indian/ International Codes.
• Ability to solve technical problems, develop appropriate tools and processes that increases quality and productivity.
• Skills in planning and organizing to effectively balance assigned work. Excellent organizational skills to manage the constantly evolving priorities.
• Ability to take initiative, enthusiastic and eagerness to learn
• Communicate ideas and thoughts to colleagues and clients of all levels.
