Job Description

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead and scale a team of high-caliber backend and platform engineers focused on building distributed systems for our mission-critical CCaaS product. In this role, you will be responsible for driving technical excellence and organizational health within a fast-paced, product-led SaaS environment. Your responsibilities will include leading the design and delivery of scalable, distributed backend systems and real-time platform APIs using Java-based microservices. You will collaborate with Architects and Tech Leads to establish technical vision, system design, and long-term architecture. Additionally, you will drive engineering excellence through activities such as code reviews, design reviews, observability, performance tuning, and SLAs. In this role, you will also own end-to-end system reliability, scalability, cost, and maintainability. Managing, coaching, and growing a team of backend engineers across different levels will be a key aspect of your responsibilities. You will drive career development, provide technical mentoring, and conduct regular 1:1s to support the growth and success of your team. Creating a high-performance, inclusive culture grounded in ownership, autonomy, and accountability is essential. You will be involved in recruiting and onboarding exceptional engineering talent, collaborating with Talent Acquisition, and participating in the interview process. Furthermore, you will drive sprint planning, estimation, and delivery across multiple squads or initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals in partnership with Product and Program Managers. Your qualifications for this role include 12+ years of total experience, with a minimum of 2+ years in engineering leadership roles. Deep experience in designing, building, and operating Java-based microservices in cloud-native, distributed environments is required. You should have a strong understanding of backend architectural patterns and a proven track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams. Experience with technologies such as Kafka, Redis, MongoDB/PostgreSQL, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, REST APIs, and CI/CD pipelines will be beneficial. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are also essential for success in this position.,
