Senior General Civil Designer

Job Summary:

Civil - Designer with 16+ years of experience in Engineering Design office of repute. Should have exposure to design office practices using computer aided drafting and 3D modeling tools. Should have experience of preparing, checking and leading general civil work using software like Inroads, Open Roads Civil3D.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership

Major Responsibilities:

• Shall ensure compliance with Bechtels standard procedures and project requirements.
• Co-ordination with Bechtel Home Office (CSA team) for any interface queries and its timely resolution
• Assists in the development of basic layout drawings for civil works or other purposes to be used in working drawings
• Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, or constructability.
• Understanding of Engineering Department Procedures, relevant design guides. Broad knowledge of the application of engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials and Codes including of OSHA.
• Perform Material Take off.

Education and Experience Requirements:

(Candidates must meet all basic qualifications to be considered)

• 16+ years of relevant work experience.
• Diploma in Civil Engineering or Drafting and Design Technology certificate from ITI/CTI.
• Excellent inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Requirements

• Knowledge in other software like Microstation, AutoCAD, Navisworks.
• Willingness to accept field assignment on projects anywhere in the world.
• Knowledge of SP3D/Revit shall be an added advantage.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge and experience of preparing General Civil engineering drawings of earthworks (rough and finished grading), roads and drainage etc.
• Proficient in use of general civil software like InRoads, OpenRoads, Civil3D etc to prepare design and construction drawings. Draw clear, complete, and accurate detail drawings based on design inputs, sketches, field notes, and verbal communication.
• Experience of preparing general arrangement and reinforcement detail drawings of concrete
• The designer must interpret and implement technical direction received from engineers, technologists or other supervisors and work independently to develop clear and concise drawings that will be checked by an engineer prior to being completed and issued.
• Capable of assuring quality of the drawings and other associated deliverables
• Prepare material take-offs and preparation of material lists.
• Knowledgeable and capable of working in excel, word and other material take-off software.
