As a rapidly growing startup, we are seeking a highly motivated and exceptionally independent Senior Enzyme Engineer to join us as the first scientific hire. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the design, optimization, and execution of enzyme purification protocols from various expression systems. - Develop, validate, and perform enzyme assays for comprehensive characterization, kinetic analysis, and screening of enzyme variants crucial for NCAA synthesis. - Independently design and execute experiments to improve enzyme activity, stability, and specificity relevant to NCAA production. - Manage and analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present key findings and recommendations to the leadership team. - Stay updated with scientific advancements in enzyme engineering and biocatalysis and integrate the latest literature and technological innovations into work. - Contribute to the strategic direction of R&D efforts, identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement. - Mentor future scientific hires and contribute to fostering a collaborative scientific culture. Qualifications Required: - Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology, Enzyme Engineering, or a closely related scientific field. - Minimum of 2+ years of post-Ph.D. experience in enzyme engineering, protein biochemistry, or related industrial or academic settings. - Expertise in protein purification techniques and enzyme assay development. - Understanding of enzyme kinetics, mechanism, and protein engineering principles. - Experience with high-throughput screening and automation for enzyme characterization is a plus. - Ability to work independently, troubleshoot technical challenges, and drive projects forward. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
