Senior Editor(Media Background)

Role:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented copy desk editor to join our team. The ideal candidate should have over 10 years of experience in editing features and news stories for magazines and newspapers. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for editing stories for language, grammar, style, consistency, accuracy, fact-checking, and ensuring that all content meets the digital standards.

Responsibilities:

• Edit copies for language, grammar, style, consistency, and accuracy, and ensure that the content meets the digital standards.
• Work closely with writers, contributors, and the editorial team to understand complex concepts and simplify them.
• Rewrite and improve copies
• Review and fact-check content, ensuring that all information is accurate and up to date.
• Work with the head of desk to develop style guides and other editorial tools.
• Ensure that all deadlines are met and that all content is delivered on time.
• Stay up to date with current health and wellness trends and use this knowledge to improve the quality of the content.

Preferred candidate profile:

• Degree in journalism, communication, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience creating and editing digital content for leading national and international publications
• Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to write in a clear, concise, and engaging style.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience with fact-checking and research.
• Work in a fast-paced environment and on tight deadlines
• Experience with content management systems and digital publishing platforms.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
