Senior Draftsperson - Australian Drafting Standards

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Draftsperson / Building Designer to join a new and dynamic business focused on Australian residential construction projects including new builds, renovations and extensions while ensuring compliance with local standards and client needs. This is a 6-month contract position with potential to transition to permanent employment based on performance and business needs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with designers and builders to translate sketches and concepts into comprehensive plans. Prepare detailed and accurate drafting plans using Autodesk Revit, based on design models Collaborate with designers and builders to translate concepts into comprehensive plans Ensure drafting outputs meet Australian building codes and standards Provide technical drafting expertise to meet quality and client requirements Assist in the preparation of design and construction documentation Participate in project coordination, liaising with clients and stakeholders Monitor and report progress against timelines, budgets and project milestones Troubleshoot advanced drafting issues and contribute to problem solving efforts with project teams Ad hoc tasks for other areas of the business from time to time QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 7 years of drafting experience, with a strong focus on Australian residential construction Advanced proficiency in drafting software, particularly in Autodesk Revit and expertise in AutoCAD is an advantage Proven experience in Australian building codes, regulations and practices. In-depth understanding of residential construction drafting Demonstrated ability to interpret and develop technical documents and plans Confidence to initiate contact and resolve questions with key relationships Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under tight deadlines. Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to address technical issues independently Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively Possess a Bachelors/College Degree in Civil Engineering or any related field.
