Job Description

Role Overview: Do you have a passion for building high-quality, well-designed mobile user interfaces Adobe Design is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join the Spectrum Design System team, focusing on Android UI component engineering. As a part of the Spectrum team, you will play a crucial role in bridging design and technology, providing Adobe with tools, components, infrastructure, and services to ensure design precision and consistent, fully accessible user experiences across various products. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with the Spectrum design team to embed design systems aesthetic into Android components while maintaining an idiomatic API - Partner with product teams to define, build, support, and validate Spectrum implementations in Adobe's Android products - Derive data from designs, map data to clear abstractions, and integrate design data into components - Write documentation to communicate the engineering approach, support contributors, perform code reviews, and enhance the predictability and stability of libraries - Communicate product engineering concerns back to design and drive process improvements - Assist in the discovery and delivery of necessary fixes for components Qualifications Required: Must-Haves: - Strong understanding of building performant and complex UI components in the Android ecosystem, with experience in Android Studio, Kotlin, and Java (3+ years) - Passion for building user interface components with meticulous attention to design details - Experience in building and supporting frameworks or SDKs, git, and GitHub - Practice with open development, providing detailed feedback, and understanding UI accessibility practices - Experience working closely with designers and converting detailed designs into code - Pragmatic, collaborative, and open-minded outlook with comfort in a fast-paced environment Nice-to-Haves: - Familiarity with design systems concepts and application in product development - Hands-on experience with build, test, and release methods, including linting, CI/CD tooling, software testing, and modern dev-ops practices - Experience collaborating with partners to inform product roadmap planning Additional Company Details: Creativity, curiosity, and continuous learning are encouraged at Adobe, fostering career growth.
