About the Role

Senior Big Data DBA

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 

  day-to-day support

   for distributed and mission-critical database environments, ensuring high availability and reliability.

• Maintain and optimize

   Postgres and Greenplum databases, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Support 

  HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery)

  , replication clusters, backup/restore strategies, and disaster recovery testing.
• Contribute to the 

  automation of routine DBA tasks

   (using Ansible, Python, Shell, or Perl) and establish operational best practices.
• Partner with 

  DevOps and SRE teams

   to modernize database environments through CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, performing root cause analysis across application, network, database, and infrastructure layers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, cloud, analytics) to implement scalable data solutions.
• Provide 

  guidance and training

   to L1/L2 database support teams globally.
• Participate in 

  on-call rotation

   for weekend and after-hours production support as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree

   in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Masters preferred).

• 6-9 years

   of experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on 

  big data technologies

  .
• Proven expertise with:

• Greenplum Database (v5, v6, or higher)

• Postgres (v12 or higher)

• Proficiency in 

  database administration

   (installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting).
• Strong experience in 

  performance tuning, replication, and high availability

   in Postgres/Greenplum environments.
• Hands-on experience with 

  cloud platforms

   (AWS, Azure, Snowflake preferred).
• Strong 

  scripting skills

   in Unix/Linux environments (Ansible, Shell, Perl, or Python).
• Solid understanding of 

  backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and capacity planning

  .
• Strong 

  communication and collaboration skills

   to work with technical and non-technical teams.
