As a Senior Applied Scientist at PowerPoint, you will play a crucial role in reimagining visual storytelling through the utilization of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agentic AI. Your main responsibility will be to design and build systems that enable LLMs to reason over extensive datasets and fine-tune both LLMs and Small Language Models (SLMs). By leveraging generative AI, you will contribute to shaping the future of PowerPoint by addressing the intricate challenges of content, layout, and visual storytelling. Your efforts will result in the creation of intelligent features that streamline presentation creation processes while fostering creativity. Responsibilities: - Research and Development: Conduct research to understand cutting-edge tools, technologies, and methodologies within the research community and product groups. Develop fundamental technologies to drive applied research, enhancing search experiences for consumers and enterprises. - Project Management: Lead projects from design to implementation, experimentation, and deployment to users. Develop state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms leveraging text, images, and video for content analysis and transformation, aiming to build top-notch search and information retrieval products. - Collaboration: Thrive in a diverse, geographically distributed team environment that values collaboration and innovation. Engage with stakeholders to define project objectives, success metrics, and deliverables. - Innovation: Stay updated on the latest trends in generative AI, natural language processing, and related fields. Explore new opportunities and challenges for Microsoft Office, focusing on enhancing bot detection precision through the use of new signals and algorithms. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field and 6+ years of relevant experience in areas such as statistics, predictive analytics, and research. OR - Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field and 4+ years of relevant experience. OR - Equivalent experience. - 4+ years of experience in designing, implementing, debugging, and testing complex distributed services. - Demonstrated expertise in working with Large Language Models and prompt engineering. Preferred Qualifications: - Master's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. - 5+ years of experience using ML tools like Pytorch, TensorFlow, or other frameworks for developing and deploying generative AI models. - Practical experience in developing applications using prompt engineering, fine-tuning, Open AI, or Azure Open AI APIs. - 3+ years of experience in developing and deploying live production systems as part of a product team, with coding proficiency in languages such as C++, C#, C, Java, or Python. - 3+ years of experience in developing and deploying products or systems at various stages of the product cycle, from ideation to shipping.,
