Summary:The Privileged Access Management (PAM) Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing PAM solutions to secure and monitor privileged accounts, credentials, and access across enterprise environments. The role involves working closely with security, IT operations, and compliance teams to enforce least privilege principles, reduce security risks, and ensure regulatory compliance. The PAM SME provides technical leadership, conducts risk assessments, develops policies and procedures, integrates PAM tools with other security systems, and supports incident investigations involving privileged access. Strong expertise in PAM platforms, identity management, authentication methods, and security best practices is essential.Roles & Responsibilities:Review and recommend updates to PAM, processes, platforms and patterns Define and update PAM patterns Support with HLD and LLD documentation for PAM systems Implement and configure PAM services. Refine and update PAM policies, processes and procedures.Monitor and troubleshoot IPAM systems to guarantee peak operation. Are we going to be supporting from Managed service if not suggest we remove these, we can define key metrics for success Collaborate with IT and security departments to incorporate IPAM into design and application service onboarding. Support in the creation of audit response materials, standardize and operationalize a review cycle for audit needs Keep current with the newest IPAM technology and best practices. Provide technical assistance and training for CyberArk PAM, for both administrators and business users.Professional & Technical
Skills:
Strong understanding of identity and access management (IAM) frameworks.Expertise in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) processes.Ability to design and implement access control policies and procedures.Experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.Problem-solving and analytical thinking in complex security environments.Excellent documentation and reporting skills.Effective communication and training capabilities.Project management and implementation oversight.Incident response and escalation handling.Advisory skills on best practices for privileged account security.Ability to conduct audits, assessments, and gap analysis.Strategic planning for enterprise-wide PAM deployment.Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, etc.).Technical SkillsExpertise in PAM tools like CyberArk, BeyondTrust, Thycotic, or Centrify.Configuration, integration, and troubleshooting of PAM solutions.Active Directory (AD), LDAP, and Azure AD integration.Authentication protocols:SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect.Role-based access control (RBAC) and least privilege implementation.Secure vaulting of credentials, secrets, and certificates.Automation through scripts (PowerShell, Python, etc.).Log monitoring, SIEM integration (Splunk, QRadar, etc.).Network segmentation and secure session management.Password rotation and credential lifecycle management.Cloud PAM deployments (AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault).API integration and secure access frameworks.Encryption standards and key management techniques.Vulnerability assessment and threat modeling."
