Secondary - Counselor

The Counselor provides individual and group counselling to support the emotional, social, mental, and lifestyle development of students. The post holder collaborates with students, parents, teachers, and leadership teams to ensure students receive comprehensive support for socio-emotional growth and successful transitions throughout their academic journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Counselling and Student Support

• Conduct individual and group counselling sessions addressing students emotional, social, mental, and lifestyle concerns.
• Discuss goals and desired outcomes with students and assist in formulating strategies to achieve them.
• Provide crisis support and assistance to students, teachers, and families as needed.
• Act as a facilitator for group counselling or mediator in conflict resolution situations.
• Refer students to healthcare professionals or external resources when appropriate.

Monitoring and Reporting

• Monitor student progress and compile regular reports.
• Conduct weekly case management meetings with the Student Support Coordinator.
• Track interventions, goal setting, and outcomes for individual students.

Collaboration and Transition Support

• Collaborate and consult with students, parents, teachers, leadership teams, and other stakeholders.
• Support students during transition phases (Early Years ? PYP, PYP ? MYP, MYP ? DP, DP ? University).
• Share strategies to enhance students socio-emotional achievement with parents, teachers, and educators.
• Provide guidance on school and community resources for additional assistance.

Professional Development and Curriculum Support

• Formulate and execute lesson plans on life skills.
• Conduct professional development sessions on socio-emotional topics.
• Attend training and development opportunities as directed by management.
• Promote and uphold the school's values and a positive, inclusive school culture.
