Job Description

As a Scientist-II in the Protein Biology team at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will play a crucial role in the large-scale functional validation of antibodies with a focus on reagent quality and specificity. Your responsibilities will include contributing to the antibody validation workflow, understanding target biology validation, and validating antibodies for reproducibility using innovative methods. You will be expected to demonstrate scientific proficiency in experimental planning and execution, stay updated with developments in the field of antibody validation, and work towards antibody validation with attention to detail and adherence to schedules. Additionally, you will provide technical and operational supervision to a team of scientists, mentor and train junior scientists, and collaborate with various supporting functions to meet program goals. **Key Responsibilities:** - Acquire and utilize knowledge on key aspects of protein biology to deliver results on antibody validation and characterization. - Regularly mine literature and stay up to date with developments in the field of antibody validation. - Lead a team of scientists in a matrix style operation, providing technical and operational supervision. - Drive conceptualization within teams to develop successful protocols for addressing complex biological targets. - Partner with supporting functions such as product management, program management, and business development to achieve program goals. **Qualifications Required:** - PhD in molecular biology, immunology, biotechnology, or biochemistry with 2 to 3 years" experience, or Master's degree with 5 to 10 years of experience. - Familiarity with experimental workflow in cell and molecular biology. - Extensive experience in the design and development of protein-assays, protein-protein interaction, or immunoassays. - Proven experience in Flow cytometry and ELISA, with good working knowledge of western blotting and immunofluorescence. - Excellent communication skills to convey research data and provide technical troubleshooting. - Experience in antibody development platforms is desirable.
