The role of a Medical Communications Manager involves working closely with the Client Engagement team, Medical Communications, and the Writing delivery team to ensure the scientific excellence of Medical Communications services across designated client groups/therapeutic areas (TAs)/brands. You will be responsible for aligning medical communications deliverables with scientific goals and objectives, developing original content, and leading faculty and client communications related to scientific content. Additionally, you will ensure the quality, scientific accuracy, and integrity of assigned projects while assisting clients in achieving their medical communication objectives through the creation and execution of scientific and educational materials. Training and mentoring the Writing delivery teams on selected therapy areas will also be part of your responsibilities. In this role, you will support the planning and execution of scientific communications for assigned franchises/TAs or groups of aligned TAs. You will oversee the delivery of client-requested support for medical/scientific communications plans and workshops, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure their requirements are met. Your ability to see the big picture and identify key issues regarding clients" products/brands will be essential, as you work on aligning medical communication deliverables with product/brand scientific communication strategies and tactics. Moreover, you will be responsible for overseeing medical communication content development for high-profile and scientifically complex therapeutic areas, applying extensive knowledge and maintaining awareness of key competitors. You will recommend and implement innovative medical communication solutions to meet client needs, demonstrating a deep understanding of the scientific landscape shaping products and providing valuable insights to clients. Your role will also involve ensuring the quality and scientific accuracy/integrity of projects, guiding writers/editorial project teams, and communicating key client issues/initiatives accurately and in a timely manner. By championing collaboration between Content Development - US Medical Affairs and the internal client, you will lead by example in working with clients, listening to improvement ideas, and translating them into actionable service improvements. To be successful in this role, you should have a healthcare professional degree or a degree in a healthcare-related field, with an advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) in life science/healthcare being desirable. You must have at least 5 years of experience in international Medical Communications, a track record in developing Medical Communications plans, and experience in various Medical Communications activities. Strong negotiations, stakeholder management, and leadership skills are crucial, along with the ability to lead content projects, manage resources, and drive projects to completion.
