Role Overview

The Application Architect leads end-to-end solution architecture and development across SAP BTP and S/4HANA landscapes, with a strong focus on ABAP design and modern development practices. The role translates business and functional requirements into scalable, modular, and future-proof designs using CAP on BTP and ABAP with CDS/RAP. It establishes and enforces coding standards and quality gates using ATC/SCI/SLIN and related tools. The architect governs custom code strategy (WRICEF), drives clean core alignment, and mentors delivery teams. Strong analytical and root-cause analysis skills are required to resolve complex issues across integrated systems.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of overall SAP experience
• 7+ years hands-on experience on SAP BTP and SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP)
• Strong ABAP development experience, preferably on SAP S/4HANA
• Practical expertise with CDS, RAP, and modern ABAP practices
• Experience promoting and integrating SAP Fiori/UI5 with RAP/CDS-based services
• Hands-on with quality and code governance tools: ATC, SCI, SLIN, Code Inspector
• Tooling: Eclipse ADT and ABAP Workbench
• Experience managing WRICEF lifecycle and custom code optimization
• Knowledge of clean core principles and extensibility strategy (in-app and side-by-side)
• Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager and Focused Build processes
• Exposure to Git and CI/CD tooling for SAP developments (e.g., gCTS/CI pipelines)
• Strong analytical skills with proven root-cause analysis and issue resolution
• Formal degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline

Responsibilities

• Translate functional requirements into scalable, modular ABAP designs and BTP/CAP architectures.
• Define, implement, and govern development standards, naming conventions, and quality checks using ATC/SCI/SLIN.
• Lead the WRICEF lifecycle, including custom code optimization and alignment to clean core principles.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor developers across delivery streams.
• Drive modernization by promoting CDS, RAP, Fiori, and modern ABAP practices to support digital transformation.
• Perform system analysis, root-cause analysis, and resolve complex issues end-to-end.
• Oversee development tooling and practices using Eclipse ADT, ABAP Workbench, Git/CI-CD, and Solution Manager/Focused Build.
