Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, 1948, State Factory Rules, and applicable EHS regulations
Liaise with statutory authorities such as Factory Inspectorate, Fire Department, and Pollution Control Board
Maintain statutory registers, licenses, permits, and safety records
Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA/JSA) across plant operations
Develop, implement, and monitor safety SOPs and safe work practices
Ensure machine guarding, LOTO procedures, and safe material handling systems
Monitor contractor, visitor, and vendor safety compliance
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and conduct root cause analysis
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and track safety KPIs
Conduct safety induction and refresher training for employees and contract workers
Organize toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and safety committee meetings
Develop and implement emergency response plans (ERP)
Conduct fire, evacuation, and emergency mock drills
Ensure availability, inspection, and maintenance of fire-fighting equipment
Identify PPE requirements and ensure correct usage and compliance
Monitor workplace hygiene, housekeeping (5S), ventilation, noise, and lighting
Support food safety and hygiene requirements relevant to FMCG manufacturing
Monitor waste management, chemical storage, effluent, and environmental controls
Support ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 audits and compliance, where applicable
Promote safety culture and continuous improvement across the plant.
